Not so many converters that can do as the Hi5-3D from AJA does. With its function as a Video Multiplexer, this device can mix and synchronize 2 HD-SDI input into various multiplexed 3D formats for having output over HDMI and HD-SDI. The connectivity offers 2 SDI Independent Input (Left/Right), 1 HDMI 1.4a, 10-bit Output, 1 x HD-SDI Output, and 2 RCA Independent Audio Output (Left/Right). To have the embedded audio, this device supports it in the HDMI output, thereby providing the convenient single cable audio/video connection. When it comes to connecting with other equipment, this device has the looping SD/HD-SDI output.
This Hi5-3D series can work best with the 2D and 3D inputs. On the 2D mode, all the signal will be smoothly passed to the output UnMo 1 x HDMI 1.4A, 10-bit, and 1 x HD-SDI. Meanwhile, when in the 3D mode, this device can handle the minimum required 3D modes as defined by the CEA for HDMI 1.4a televisions. Even if the operation depends on the 3D format, this device still performs well. Therefore, this product supports “side-by-side”, “top-bottom”, and "frame-packing modes".
The functionality of the “side-by-side” and “top-bottom” modes in this Hi5-3D include the compressing part, either vertically or horizontally, each input works for mixing into the single video stream at the same rate inputs. Furthermore, the “frame-packing” mode compile two full resolution inputs into the “tall” frame (at twice the clock and line rates). When selected, the “frame-packing” can only be used with 23.98/24Hz input frame rates.
In all, this Hi5-3D can be categorized as one of the leading devices in its class. Besides those capabilities, this product also supports DIP switch control and host control via the MiniConfig application. One of the switches is the “Local/Remote” switch. If in the “Local” mode, the remaining switches support the subset of the user controls. As for the “Remote” mode, the AJA’s MoniConfig application controls the unit. The last configuration that users can have is in the memory part, for the usage when disconnected. For charging, this device has the Universal Power Supply as well as the international plug connections for global use in any country.
